Dr Sarah Hartley

Sarah is a Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor with over 16 years of experience working in mental health. She has worked across private practice, public health and the university sector.

She graduated from the University of Oxford with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2009. Prior to this she had completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Studies from Southampton University in 2006, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Bath in 2002.

Sarah works with adults with a wide range of presenting problems including:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder / adjustment difficulties
  • Trauma
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Mood Disorders (Depression and Bipolar Disorder)
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Grief and Loss
  • Difficulties with emotion regulation and distress tolerance
  • Psychotic Disorders (stabilised enough for work in a private practice setting)
  • Workers Compensation Matters
  • Parenting Challenges

Sarah also enjoys working with couples to assist them to improve their relationship through: reducing conflictual patterns; increasing levels of emotional safety and bonding; improving intimacy; and help them navigate challenging life circumstances or events. 

Sarah uses a number of different therapeutic approaches depending on the need of the client. These include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Mindfulness and compassion focused therapy.
